Le Brunch du Parc.
We always hear that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If that’s so, then surely Brunch is the most glamorous one. If you will read my review of Le Brunch du Parc at iconic Restuarant-Hotel du Parc des Eaux-Vives then you will understand why I think so. However, before I will tell you more about Le Brunch du Parc I would like to tell you a little bit about Brunch in general.
What is Brunch?
Originally created for the English upper class. Dreamed up as a multi-hour, elaborate affair. The breakfast-lunch idea went mainstream in the 1990s. Some historians think brunch started as a pre-hunt breakfast that was common in England. Those were meals with both sweet and savoury options.
Other historians claim that Sunday brunch started thanks to Catholics. They would fast before the mass and eat a lavish lunch after coming back from the church. The last group highlights that to find the origins of Brunch we need to go to New York City. Between the 20s – 60s, there were many dining spots that served eggs Benedicts and Bagels for lunch and it could have been the origins too.
Definitely with time Brunch started to go from wealthy tables to more common places. To my delight, recently more fine dining restaurants and hotels see Brunch the way they were originally imagined. Elegant, slow, delicious and lavish. They are a new luxury. The ideal way to spend Sunday afternoon with family or friends. No Rush, but the enjoyment of culinary heaven.
Le Brunch Du Parc
Restaurant-Hotel du Parc des Eaux-Vives offers a wonderful brunch that is perfect for adults and also for children. A couple of years ago we enjoyed Le Brunch du Parc in the summer with my family from Poland. we all loved it, it was sunny, we spend hours on the terrace overlooking the iconic lake. This year I received an invitation to test Brunch during winter and we couldn’t say no.
The winter brunch is much more cosier, but equally delicious. During the summer brunch is prepared on the ground floor of the building and on the terrace. In winter it takes place on the first floor of 82 Restuarant. It’s perfect for the winter, there is a fireplace and stylish rooms. During the holiday season, guests can also enjoy beautiful Christmas decorations that create a wonderful atmosphere.
Starting with the venue. The building is a very unique and historic place. The mansion was built in 1750 and has been a luxury restaurant for over a hundred years. It’s surrounded by an idyllic park with hundred-year-old sequoias. There is also a breathtaking view of Geneva lake. The 82 restaurant is upstairs, as I already mentioned has intimate rooms and a terrace. The head chef is Jérôme Manifacier’s, who specializes in local and Provencal cuisine.
Le Brunch du Parc offers a sumptuous buffet catering to all tastes, preferences and indulgences, offering among other things many regional products labeled GRTA and seasonal. A selection of dishes and delicacies is also available for gourmets. There is a live cooking risotto, the selection of Bruand cheeses, the dessert buffet with delicious crêpes Suzette & the gourmet chocolate fountain.
It’s an indulgence for all family members. Below you can find all the menu that is served. There will be some classics, like Egg Mimosa for instance, but also a wonderful Sea Food corner and live Risotto cooking. Delicious freshly make cocktails that accompany the meal and 5 * service. My Opinion
Starting with the venue.
Hotel-Restaurant in the old mansion is a beautiful venue to spend Sunday with the loved-ones. Brunch is served in a unique, elegant and chic atmosphere. Children and adults can try many different dishes from savoury to sweet. There are more elaborated dishes like for example their eggs called the perfect eggs. They are served on risotto with truffles. They were so delicious! There are many lavish seafood-centric brunch dishes. Everything was of the best quality and selected by the chef. I loved the Smoked Salmon and was one of my favourites during the brunch. Salmon was the Scottish Red Label and smoked in a smokehouse in Switzerland, dated 1820. Absolutely delicious. My son as always was excited about the Chocolate Fountain with marshmallows and fruits and bread with fruits. We spend over 3 hours at the restaurants, tried nearly all the dishes, and truly enjoyed ourselves.
In my option that is what perfect Brunch is. It’s not rushed, it’s relaxed and there is a lot of laughers and delicious food. I truly recommend Le Brunch du Parc at Hôtel du Parc des Eaux-Vives. All family will enjoy the delicatessen prepared by the chef and wonderful team at the Restaurant.
